Matthew Aaron Wolff
(Oct. 4, 1981 - July 14, 2000)
Matthew Aaron Wolff is my brother. He was tragically killed when his car was drove off the road into a pole along Route 28A outside of Kingston, N.Y. on July 14th, 2000. I have dedicated this website to observing his short but beautiful life and why we all loved him so. If you have any pictures of my brother tucked away in an album somewhere, I would appreciate it very much if you would send them to me at rich0917@yahoo.com so I can post them on here. Also I am looking for video of Matthew and will send tapes and postage to anyone who has some to send me. Thank you for visiting his pages. There are more links on the bottom of this page leading to more pictures, news articles about his accident, Matthew's obituary notice and lyrics to "For My Brother" -- A song I have written for Matthew. Also, "thanks" to the many who sent flowers, words of condolence and who came to Matthew's viewing and service after he passed. You are all welcome at my home at any time to talk.
To those of you who have no idea why I am making a page for my brother, I will try to explain in the best way I can. Matthew was an incredible person. His life was truly charmed by his extreme ambitions and his wonderful attitude about success. To me, he was a model American and wanted to live the American dream. He was by no means a typical man. Everyone he came in contact with loved him. He was always there to offer words of support to all who needed it, especially to me when I called from overseas while in the Navy. It was many times while Matthew was a young man that he asked me "Rich, when are you leaving the Navy and coming home?" I always said soon and truly believed that I wasn't going to stay in forever.
Well, I didn't stay in forever, but he never saw me come home for good. After Matt's passing, my Mother gave me some articles my brother owned. One of them was a gold crucifix and anchor... my Mother told me that Matthew wore it to keep me close to his heart and safe from harm while I was doing my duty as a Sailor. I wear that crucifix and anchor pendant every day if possible today, to keep Matthew close to my heart and to show my thanks to him for his many prayers over the years.

The crucifix/anchor pendant that belonged to my brother.
These pages are only a visual depiction of his life and death, his spirit is in all of us and we should all be lucky to live a life as good and true as his. My brother's greatest quality was his ability to tell you the truth about yourself, and not get you angry at him. I, among others, have gone to him for advice many times knowing he wasn't going to tell me what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear.
He also was a man of great ambition and was always trying to work and make money to obtain all his wants and needs. I remember that Matthew, as a teenager, would travel by train to New York City to work selling clothes or looking for bargains. He always knew where to go to get the deals. Sometimes we talked about our favorite spots.
Matthew was also a very caring person. He made an effort to visit my Grandma Lunan when she was sick or needed comforting and every other family member for that matter. He would go to the store for you if you couldn't and pay for your dinner if you had no money.
He worked at the Kingston Hospital. I remember once picking him up late at night and seeing how he made all the patients and staff smile with his quick wit and sarcastic humor. He would have truly been a good comedian or actor one day because his type of humor was genuine. It poured out of him easily and manifested itself as a smile on every face around him.
These are my "reasons" why these pages are necessary to devote to Matt. Of course I could go on all day telling stories and saying nice things about him. He was more than my brother, he was my best friend and I will truly miss him forever. I love you Matt!
I remember most of these pictures of Matthew when he was a baby and toddler very well. I took most of them, so I am rarely in them.
